Better than outdoor research
Bought this and an outdoor research one, and while this is a more baggy and less stylish, is is more effective. Can’t feel the sun through this, but it keeps you cool and breathes well. Probably as cool with long sleeves as with wearing short sleeves, but no sunscreen to worry about.

Very Comfortable Shirt
I’m about 6′ 2″, 180 lbs and found the large to be the best fit. I had first bought it in size medium because of the comments about the shirt fitting too large, however while the medium did fit well and look good on me (according to my wife), I found medium to be a tad snugish on the arms and shoulder area. As a caveat, I do like clothing on the relaxed side, so maybe the reviewers who said large was too big like their shirts more on the fitted side than I do. That said, large was perfect for me as the sleeves were loose allowing more air to flow within.

I thought the breathability was good. The sun protection was sufficient. The size of the shirt felt a little big on me. Iâm usually a medium, but I think that might be the style and allows the material to breathe. The color is fun, not something I would usually go for. Quality seems okay.

I’ve recently started wearing this sun protective shirt, and it’s been a game-changer for my summer outdoor activities. The primary reason I gravitated towards it was to reduce my reliance on sunscreen, which can be a hassle to apply and reapply throughout the day. An SPF of around 50 is bang on what i used to apply all over my hairy arms. The breath-ability and wicking nature of the fabric do mean you must clean it well and shortly after use, but the cooling effect and feeling less sweaty are great improvements for me. Columbia is a reliable brand and this shirt is very well stitched and seems like it will last a long time.
