The best I’ve found yet.
I have had at least half-dozen (maybe ten) different makes of gaiters. I cannot yet comment on the durability of the Kahtoola Instagaiters because I’ve only been out a few times with them. But judging from the obvious thought that went into the design and materials, particularly the strap, they should last just fine. Once you get the under-strap adjusted the first time (there are three settings you can choose from. Watch the video), and develop an order in the way you put them on, they’re quite easy to attach. The zipper is particularly nice to operate – no fussing necessary – and using one hand is possible. I dislike the sound and hassle of Velcro, and since these have no Velcro, they’re almost a delight to put on. They’re quite breathable as well. They fit close to the shoe, with a great light, adjustable elastic strap with which you can seal out any debris. Just adjust it the first time, and that setting is held. Due to the good fit, they are more streamlined than some other designs, and for that reason they look better, in my opinion.

Durable, effective
Just finished 2wks and 170 miles in the Dolomites using these. I have had dozens of gaiters over the years and given up on heel strap type due to breakage. The 1,000 mile warranty got me to try these- indeed no perceptible wear / damage despite the miles on sharp rocks. Also kept out out all debris and dust despite boot skiing down scree and talus slopes for days. Very impressed and believe they will hold up for some time. Good performance and durability.

Great for the desert
In 150 miles of desert hiking on the Continental Divide Trail I didnât get a single pebble in my shoes. My only complaint about them is at the zippers are a little hard to get started. So it takes while to put them on in the morning. But they did what they were supposed to do and I am grateful.

Very nice!!
Very comfortable! The elastic band at the top is adjustable and doesnât dig in at all while still being snug enough to keep debris out. Super lightweight and breathable material. The strap that goes under the shoe is detachable and very durable. I donât foresee any issues with it wearing out on the trails or gravel roads. So glad I purchased these!

Effective, but too costly and too much of a hassle to put on
I ordered the large size of these and they barely fit over any of my 3x pairs of hiking boots: 2x low-cut REI / Merrell boots, and one 1x mid-cut Hoka. The Hokas in particular are impossible. Not sure how people who wear the high-cut or oversized boots would ever get these on, even in the largest size. On my small/medium boots it takes me like 5+ minutes to put on, and involves a lot of stretching and pulling. It was such a hassle I didn’t even bother putting them on again after Day 1 on the Tahoe Rim Trail. They seem best for tennis shoes or women’s shoes maybe? They did keep out dirt and debris really well though.

Easily the best gaiters I’ve owned
I have been using Altra shoes for many years, and I got used to using their gaiters. When I switched to Topo shoes, I needed to find new gaiters, and these had the best reviews on Amazon. The Kahtoola gaiters are compatible with any brand of shoe, from Altra, to Topo, or anything else, and I appreciate the versatility. I also really like the zipper, which makes it so much easier to put on and take off the gaiters. I also like the drawstring around the top, so you can adjust it for a tight fit to your size ankle. All of the gaiters I’ve used in the past had elastic around the ankle, and sometimes the fit would be too tight. The Kahtoola gaiters are also very durable. Overall, I’m very impressed.

Good quality and they stay put
Pros: They are great quality and when you get them on, they stay put thanks to the lace hook in the front.Cons: They take a little effort to put on and take off, and they are too small for full-sized hiking boots. My mid-height Salomon shoes need the largest setting on the clips. I would recommend these for trail runners through mid-height shoes, but not boots.

Perfect height
I love the height of these gators. They are easy to get on and fit great. I have not used them yet but I am excited to try them out.

Best gaiters for the price

I walk over 100 km a week and I was frustrated with continually emptying my boots of rocks and debris. I bought these low gaiters a month ago and have not had one rock get into my boots. They are light (don’t notice them while walking) and easily just left on the boots between walks. I was concerned the straps may wear out too soon but received prompt and kind support for replacements. I am really happy with this product.

They are nice gaiters, but if the zippers were placed on the inside of the foot bed (see second pic) rather than the outside of the foot it would be easier to zip up. I suppose you could just switch the gaiter to the other foot, but the cut of the fabric makes it look weird (not that anyone would notice). Cross your legs in a seated position and youâll know that the zipper is awkwardly on the outside of your foot. Other than that design âflawâ they are nice and does a great job at keeping away debrisâ¦especially with the rip stop cord on the top. Nice touch.

both my husband and I have these gaiters. the pack tiny and take up no space in your backpack. they kept my feet amd shoes dry even when snowshoeing for a couple hours in lots of snow.

Works great for keeping annoying sand and rocks out of my shoes on my trail runs and hikes. They fit perfectly. I got large for my menâs size 11.5 trail runners. Fabric has a good amount of stretch. Thank you!
